- The LA84 Foundation is the legacy of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. The Foundation is a private non-profit institution endowed with Southern California's share of the surplus funds generated by the 1984 Games. Its mission is to serve youth through sport and to increase public understanding of sport. Toward that end, the Foundation maintains an extensive virtual collection of sport history resources on its website. Since inception, the LA84 Foundation has committed more than $160 million to accomplish its mission.
- The Aims of the Society are:
- to promote, stimulate and encourage discussion, study, research
and publications on the history of sport and physical education
- to organise meetings and workshops and to publish materials
that advance interest and scholarship in the area of study
- to liase with individuals and institutions having an interest
in the aims of the Society.
- CAAWS was founded in 1981 by a group of women from across Canada
who believed that it was time for women to enjoy full and equal access
to the benefits of sport and physical activity. They were tired of
a women's traditional role in sport being limited to chauffeuring
the kids to and from practice and running the bingos and bake sales.
They decided it was time for women to move into the boardrooms and
baseball diamonds and basketball courts of this country.

- H-Arete is one of the family of humanities and social science
lists published by H-Net, the international organization of on-line
humanities scholars. Together, the 70 lists have 38,000 subscribers
in 66 countries. H-Arete is a daily Internet discussion forum focused
on the study of Sport Literature as an academic discipline.
- The International Centre for Olympic Studies is a research, resource
and service facility located in Somerville House, School of Kinesiology,
The University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. The Centre's purpose
is to encourage, generate, and disseminate scholarship on a broad
range of social and cultural themes related to the Olympic Movement.
The Centre's organizational roots are multi-disciplinary in nature,
reaching into the Faculties and Schools of Arts, Social Science, Kinesiology,
Law, Education, Music, Journalism, Science, and Business.
- The International Society for the History of Physical Education
and Sport (ISHPES) is the umbrella organisation for sports historians
all over the world. ISHPES came into being in 1989 through the merging
of ICOSH and HISPA. Its purpose is to facilitate and to improve communications
and cooperation betweeen sport history associations at the national
and regional levels, as well as between scholars.

specialist, college/university student and faculty.
- The Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) was formed in
August 1971 in Cooperstown New York. It now consists of more than
6,500 members - including many prominent writers, officials, and players
- worldwide. There is no test a person must pass to become active.
All that's asked of members is that they have an interest in baseball.
- An international leader in sport information since 1973 SIRC, the
Sport Information Resource Centre, identifies, collects, organizes
and disseminates information about sports, fitness and related fields.
- The Sporting News Archives was established in 1986 as a part of
The Sporting News Publishing Company. Its primary purpose is to support
the staff of the company by providing accurate reference information
in a timely manner and by collecting and maintaining materials relevant
to the production of its weekly magazine and their other products.
In addition, the archives staff provides reference services to the
public, who may contact them by letter, phone or fax. The electronic
archives also features exhibits of the unique items that The Sporting
News has collected and produced throughout its history.
- The Todd-McLean Physical Culture Collection is a unique collection
of archival materials relating to Physical Fitness, Bodybuilding,
Weightlifting, Alternative Medicine, Sport Training, Physical Education,
and Hygiene. Housed at the University of Texas at Austin, the collection
is curated by Jan and Terry Todd of the Department of Kinesiology
and Health Education. The Collection contains books, magazines, personal
papers,manuscripts, photographs, films, posters, artifacts, art, and
a wide variety of other material culture items.
